NORCET 11 choice filling 2026 guide – AIIMS institute preference list

NORCET 11 Choice Filling 2026: How to Pick Your AIIMS Smartly

If your roll number is on the NORCET 11 Stage II result list, congratulations. You are one of the 10,613 candidates who qualified. Now comes the step many people rush through: choice filling.

Your rank decides when your turn comes. Your choice list decides where you land. A careless list can send a good rank to an institute you never wanted. This guide explains the dates, how allotment works and a simple way to rank your options.

Key date: Online choice filling opens on 30 October 2026 and closes on 6 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. Always confirm every date on the official portal, aiimsexams.ac.in.

How NORCET allotment works

Allotment is done online, based on your NORCET rank. In simple terms, the system moves down the merit list one candidate at a time. For each candidate, it reads their choices in the saved order and gives the first one that still has a seat in their category.

So the candidate ranked just above you gets their turn first. If your first choice is full by your turn, the system moves to your second choice, then your third, and so on.

Why the order of your list matters

The system cannot guess what you really want. It only reads the order you saved. If you place a less-wanted institute above a better one, you may get the less-wanted one, even when the better seat was still open.

That is the one rule to remember: list institutes in the exact order you would happily join them.

Read the seat matrix first

On 30 October 2026, AIIMS will publish the final seat position. It shows how many Nursing Officer seats each institute has, split by category such as UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwBD.

Download it before you touch your list. An institute with very few seats in your category can fill up long before your turn.

Step-by-step: how to fill your choices

  1. Download the notices. Get the final seat position and the allotment procedure from aiimsexams.ac.in on 30 October.
  2. Log in to MyPage. Use your Candidate ID and password. Check your name, category and rank.
  3. Make your list on paper first. Rank every institute you would genuinely join.
  4. Enter your choices online in the same order. Use the portal’s options to move choices up or down if needed.
  5. Save and recheck. Then submit or lock the list exactly as the official notice explains.
  6. Keep proof. Download or screenshot your final saved list.
  7. Finish early. Do not wait for 6 November. Portals often slow down near deadlines.

How to rank institutes: 6 things to weigh

There is no single best AIIMS for everyone. Weigh these six points against your own life.

1. Distance from home and family

Nursing Officer duty includes night shifts and rotations. Being near family helps, especially in the first year. Check train and bus links from your hometown, not just the distance on a map.

2. Cost of living in the city

Nursing Officer posts at AIIMS are at Level 7 of the pay matrix, so the basic pay does not change by city. Rent and daily expenses do. A metro city takes a bigger share of your salary than a smaller one.

3. Institute age and patient load

AIIMS New Delhi has run since 1956. Six AIIMS (Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh) started in 2012, and many others are newer still.

Older institutes usually have more departments and a heavy patient load, which means strong clinical exposure. Newer ones may offer more room to grow while they are still building up.

4. Hostel and housing

Some institutes offer hostel rooms or quarters to new staff; others may not. If you plan to rent, look up rents near the campus. Seniors already working there will tell you more than any website.

5. Language and local culture

You will talk to patients and their families all day. Knowing the local language helps you settle faster and communicate better at the bedside.

6. Your rank versus the seat count

Be honest about your rank. If you are far down the list, a popular institute with few seats in your category may be full before your turn. Keep it on your list if you want it, but make sure realistic options follow.

A simple 3-tier method for your list

A tier method keeps your list ambitious and safe at the same time.

  • Tier 1 – Dream choices: the places you want most, even if your rank makes them a stretch.
  • Tier 2 – Realistic choices: institutes where seats in your category are likely to be open at your rank.
  • Tier 3 – Safe choices: institutes you are willing to join if the first two tiers fill up.

Inside each tier, order institutes by the six points above. Fill as many choices as you would genuinely join. A very short list raises the chance that every choice is full by your turn.

Tip: Never add an institute you will refuse to join. If it is allotted, you will have to choose between joining and giving up the seat. Read the official notice to see what declining means for you.

Documents to keep ready

After allotment, you will upload scanned documents and later show the originals for verification. Start collecting these now:

  • Date of birth proof (Class 10 certificate)
  • B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing or GNM certificates and mark sheets
  • Nursing council registration certificate (State or Indian Nursing Council)
  • Experience certificate, if you applied with a GNM diploma
  • Category certificate (OBC-NCL, SC or ST) in the central government format
  • EWS income and asset certificate, if it applies to you
  • PwBD certificate, if it applies to you
  • Photo ID and address proof
  • Recent photograph, signature and thumb impression
  • No Objection Certificate, if you already work in government service

Use clear colour scans in the format the notice asks for. A blurred or cut-off scan can delay your verification.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Copying a friend’s list. Your rank, category and family needs are different.
  • Filling only two or three choices.
  • Placing a safe institute above one you actually prefer.
  • Ignoring the category-wise seat count.
  • Leaving everything to the evening of 6 November.
  • Not keeping proof of your final saved list.

After allotment: what happens next

AIIMS will publish the allotment result after the choice window closes. Then follow the notice for accepting the seat, uploading documents and reporting to your institute. These deadlines are short, so check MyPage and your SMS alerts every day.

Your first weeks will be full of ward orientation, admissions, discharges and charting. A quick refresher now makes that much easier. Start with our notes on hospital admission and discharge, nursing documentation methods and the nursing process.
