What to check before you enrol
At the time of writing, the public pages do not state the fee, the mode (online or hybrid), detailed eligibility or the batch start date. Ask the provider for these in writing before you pay anything:
- Total fee and refund policy
- Online, offline or hybrid, and weekly time needed
- Who can join: registered nurses, faculty, students?
- How CNE hours are recorded and shown on your certificate
- Module list and assessment method
Read the INC notice (PDF) and the ADHS course page. The provider lists office@digitalhealth.ac.in for queries.
Why INC is pushing digital skills
Speaking at the India AI Summit in March 2026, INC Secretary Col (Dr) Sarvjeet Kaur said AI and digital health are already core competencies in the revised B.Sc Nursing curriculum (2021). She also spoke about:
- five mandatory simulation labs in nursing institutions
- at least one computer for every five students
- a six-month digital nursing course linked to CNE hours
- 150 CNE hours linked to five-yearly renewal of nursing registration
This new AI course for nurses fits that plan. CNE rules for renewal are applied by your State Nursing Council, so check your council’s current requirement.
Where AI already helps in nursing
- Early warning: tools that flag patients whose vital signs suggest they may deteriorate.
- Documentation: drafting notes and handover summaries that the nurse then checks.
- Decision support: drug-interaction alerts and care-plan suggestions.
- Education: simulation, virtual patients and practice questions.
- Community health: digital records and data for programmes and follow-up.
Limits and risks every nurse should know
- AI can give confident but wrong answers. Always verify clinical information.
- Never enter patient names or identifiable details into public AI tools.
- Tools trained on other populations may not fit Indian patients.
- The nurse stays accountable for care, not the software.
WHO principles for safe AI in health
WHO’s report Ethics and governance of artificial intelligence for health (2021) sets six principles:
- Protect human autonomy
- Promote human well-being, safety and the public interest
- Ensure transparency, explainability and intelligibility
- Foster responsibility and accountability
- Ensure inclusiveness and equity
- Promote AI that is responsive and sustainable
These also match Islamic ethics of care: protect the patient’s dignity and trust (amanah), avoid harm, and stay honest about what you know.
How to use AI responsibly as a nursing student
- Use AI to explain a topic or quiz you, then check the answer in your textbook.
- Write your own care plans and case studies; use AI only to review structure.
- Follow your college’s rules on AI use in assignments.
- Learn the basics of digital records and data privacy now.
Strong basics still matter most. Revise the nursing process and nursing documentation methods, and see how critical thinking works in our post on critical thinking in nursing. For ready formats, browse our Nursing Care Plan (Medical Ward) Format.
