You know that folder on your laptop — the one with the notes you spent months polishing before your last exam, the case presentation your mentor called “the cleanest they’d seen this year”, the OSCE checklist you built because none of the ones online actually matched your syllabus? That folder is worth money. Not “quit your job” money — rent, bike EMI, next semester’s tuition kind of money. This guide explains, step by step, how to turn that folder into a running vendor store on Health Educational Media.
No fluff. Real requirements, real commission, real timelines.
Why sell your study material at all?
Because three things are simultaneously true in India in 2026:
- Over 2.4 million students are enrolled in health-science programs across India — nursing, medical, paramedical, pharmacy, dental, allied health.
- Every single one of them needs unit-mapped, syllabus-specific material.
- What they usually get instead: scattered YouTube playlists, third-year seniors’ blurry photocopies, and Google Drive links that expire.
If you already went through the syllabus and made the material you wished had existed, other students will pay to skip the same struggle. Faculty will pay to save 4–6 hours a week they currently spend rebuilding PPTs from scratch. That’s the market. That’s why this platform exists.
Who this is for
Students who nailed a subject
You’re in 3rd/4th year, someone in 1st year keeps asking you to explain something you already understand cold. Turn your notes into a listing.
Faculty & educators
Your lecture PPTs, question banks, model papers, lesson plans — the material you polish year after year. Other institutions and independent learners will buy them.
Practicing healthcare professionals
Nurses, doctors, technologists, pharmacists with clinical experience. Sell drug studies, case presentations, procedure checklists, SOPs — stuff you built on the ward that students don’t have access to.
Part-time job seekers with expertise
You have deep grip on a subject (biochemistry, pharmacology, community health, biostatistics) but no formal teaching post yet. This is your foot in the door.
Who this is not for: If your plan is to Ctrl+C from a textbook and Ctrl+V into a Word doc, this platform will not accept your uploads. Every product is reviewed for originality and syllabus alignment before it goes live. Details below.
What you can actually sell
The platform is organised the way universities teach: Program → Course → Year → Semester → Subject → Unit. You upload against that hierarchy so buyers find your material by browsing their own syllabus. Material types accepted:
| Category | Examples | Who buys most |
|---|---|---|
| Academic | Unit notes, chapter notes, subject notes, PDFs, e-books, study sheets, revision sheets | Students (all years) |
| Slides & teaching | Lecture PPTs, teaching notes, lesson plans, handouts, worksheets | Faculty, junior teachers |
| Question banks | MCQs, previous year papers, model papers, important questions, viva questions, flashcards | Exam-facing students (NORCET, university exams, entrance) |
| Practical & clinical | Practical records, clinical records, case studies, case presentations, nursing care plans, drug studies, procedure checklists, logbooks | Clinical-year students, junior faculty |
| Assessment tools | OSCE stations, OSPE checklists, evaluation tools, community-health records | Faculty preparing exams |
| Health education | Patient-education booklets, community awareness material, health-promotion posters | Community health students, NGOs, junior nurses |
Both free and paid listings are supported. Many sellers start with 1–2 free listings to build trust and reviews, then price everything after that.
What you actually need to start
Skills & expertise
- Deep grip on at least one subject. If a first-year student asks you a follow-up question, you should be able to answer it without opening a book.
- Ability to organise material by syllabus. RGUHS Unit II is different from KNRUHS Unit II — be specific.
- Willingness to cite. Textbook name, edition, author. Not “as per Wikipedia”.
- Basic English or clear regional-language writing. Vernacular content sells well too; consistency matters more than polish.
Devices & tools
- Any one of: laptop, tablet with keyboard, or a decent smartphone (any Android from the last 3 years works).
- Free tools that get the job done: Google Docs, Microsoft Word Online, Canva Free, LibreOffice, Adobe Scan (for handwritten notes → clean PDF).
- Camera or phone camera if you’ll photograph diagrams or scan pages.
- Stable internet for uploads. 4G / basic broadband is fine.
Documents (kept simple)
- PAN card (mandatory — needed for payout).
- Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Bank account or UPI ID for direct payment.
- GSTIN is optional unless your annual receipts cross ₹20 lakh.
You do not need a company, GST, or an MSME certificate to start. Individual sellers can operate straight from a personal PAN + bank account.
The commission — exactly what the platform keeps
Simple commission split
How the numbers work in practice: if you price a Community Health Nursing Unit II PDF at ₹199 and it sells 50 times in a semester, that’s ₹9,950 gross revenue. The platform’s 10% is ₹995, and ₹8,955 lands in your bank. You do that with 10 unit notes across 2 semesters and you’re looking at close to a lakh with zero incremental effort per sale.
Where the 10% goes: payment-gateway charges (Razorpay takes ~2%), GST on the platform’s own share (18% under GST Council Notification 12/2017), server & delivery infrastructure, moderation team who reviews every submission, and buyer support.
Future policy: the 10% figure may adjust slightly as Indian GST rules or the Income Tax Act 2025 (effective 1 April 2026) evolve. Any change will be announced at least 30 days in advance to existing vendors, and existing sales-in-progress are honoured at the earlier rate. That’s the rule.
How to become a seller — the actual steps
From nothing to first sale — typical timeline
-
1Register at healtheducationalmedia.com/vendor-onboarding. Email, phone, PAN. Time: 5 min.
-
2Set up your store profile. Store name (your real name is fine), qualifications, subjects you teach, a short bio. Time: 10 min.
-
3Add your bank account or UPI. Payouts are cleared weekly on Mondays. Time: 3 min.
-
4Upload your first product. Pick Program → Course → Year → Semester → Subject → Unit. Attach the file, write a 100-word description, add a preview page. Time: 20 min per product.
-
5Wait for review. The moderation team checks originality, syllabus fit, and reference quality. Time: usually 24–48 hours.
-
6Go live & get discovered. Your product shows up in the smart material finder, search results, and category listings.
Once approved, your vendor store URL becomes healtheducationalmedia.com/store/your-name/ — shareable, brandable, yours. Everything you upload afterwards goes through the same review flow but faster (usually under 12 hours) because your baseline quality is already established.
What makes a product worth listing (and buying)
These are the standards the moderation team applies. Meet them and your listing goes live within 48 hours; miss them and you’ll get specific feedback on what to fix.
- Genuinely your work. Not paraphrased sentences from a Robbins pathology textbook. Original synthesis, in your voice.
- Mapped to a real syllabus. Say the board and university explicitly (e.g., “RGUHS B.Sc Nursing Semester 6, Nursing Management Unit II”). Generic “nursing notes” won’t clear review.
- Referenced. At least 3 authentic references at the end — textbook name + edition + page ranges, or WHO / Government of India / ICMR guideline documents with URLs.
- Legibly formatted. One font, consistent heading levels, proper spacing. No screenshots of handwritten pages unless they’re the whole point (like a filled practical record example).
- Fairly priced. The platform’s tagline is cost-effective for students. Unit notes typically ₹50–₹299. Question banks ₹99–₹499. Full-subject bundles ₹299–₹999. Anything above these needs to justify the value in the description.
- Preview page included. First 1–2 pages visible before purchase so buyers know exactly what they’re getting.
Products failing review get one round of specific feedback and a chance to re-submit. Repeated poor submissions can lead to a temporary listing block — but no seller has ever been permanently removed for quality issues alone. The system exists to protect buyers, not to gatekeep sellers.
What you actually get
- Your own vendor store — shareable link, your bio, all your products in one place. Send it in your WhatsApp status.
- Passive revenue. Upload once, earn every time it sells. A single well-made unit note can generate income for 2–3 academic sessions before content updates are needed.
- Weekly automatic payouts to your bank / UPI. No chasing, no invoices.
- Free SEO traffic. Each product page is indexed by Google under Rank Math SEO with product schema — buyers find you via search, not just internal browse.
- Buyer analytics dashboard. See which units sell, which prices convert, which titles drive clicks. Refine your approach with real data.
- GST-compliant invoices generated automatically for every sale, saving you from manually preparing them at tax time.
- Support that answers. Response within one business day — not a chatbot, not a ticket queue.
How to get in touch before you sign up

Straight answers to what people usually ask
I’m a 2nd year B.Sc Nursing student — am I allowed to sell?
Yes, provided you’re 18+ and have PAN. Under 18 requires a guardian’s PAN and bank account. Being a current student is not a barrier — many top sellers on the platform are 3rd/4th year students selling notes from earlier semesters.
Do I need to sell full subjects or can I list just one unit?
Single unit is fine. Many buyers only want the one unit they’re weak in. Bundling comes later — you can create bundles of your own units at a discount from your dashboard.
Can I sell handwritten notes?
Yes, if scanned cleanly (use Adobe Scan or Google Drive scanner — both free) and legibly written. Many students actually prefer scanned handwritten notes because they feel closer to real study material. Just make sure diagrams are clear.
What if my content overlaps with what another seller has already listed?
Topic overlap is fine — different sellers teach the same subject differently. Duplicate content (verbatim copy of another vendor’s file) is not allowed. Your notes on Unit II of Community Health Nursing can coexist with three other sellers’ notes on the same unit, as long as each is original.
Can I sell in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, or another regional language?
Absolutely. Vernacular content is one of the fastest-growing segments. Mark the language in the product description and it’ll be filterable for buyers.
How much can I realistically earn in the first six months?
Honest range: ₹3,000–₹30,000 per month by month 6, depending on how many products you upload, how well they match live syllabuses, and how actively you promote your vendor store link. Sellers who upload 15+ products across a full year of a course and promote to college WhatsApp groups routinely cross ₹50,000 per month by year two.
What about tax on my earnings?
See our full guide to online digital selling in India — short version: under Section 44AD of the Income Tax Act, if all your receipts come through bank/UPI and stay under ₹3 crore a year, you can declare only 6% of turnover as taxable profit and skip full bookkeeping. For most first-year sellers earning under ₹20 lakh, the total tax owed is often ₹0.
Ready? Here’s your one next step
